Lotte & Gunnar Bostlund Model 1200 Mustard Ceramic Table Lamp, Canada c. 1960s
A classic Canadian mid-century table lamp by Lotte and Gunnar Bostlund, Model 1200, produced in Canada circa the 1960s.
The compact ceramic base is finished in a rich mustard-ochre glaze with subtle horizontal variation created during the glazing process. Its restrained cylindrical body rises into a gently tapered neck, giving the lamp the quiet sculptural character associated with Bostlund lighting.
Most importantly, the lamp retains its original spun fiberglass and natural-fibre shade. Fine horizontal strands wrap the softly tapered shade, producing the warm, diffused glow for which Bostlund lamps are particularly admired. When illuminated, the cream and golden fibres take on a soft amber tone that complements the ceramic base beautifully.
Introduced around 1960, the Model 1200 was the smallest format within the Bostlund lamp range and was designed as a compact table, bedside or credenza lamp. Lotte and Gunnar Bostlund's Canadian-made lighting has become increasingly recognized as an important expression of postwar Canadian modernism, combining Scandinavian restraint with locally produced ceramics and distinctive fiberglass shades.
The lamp retains its original vintage character, including its period shade, socket hardware and cord.

Condition
Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. The glazed ceramic base presents very well overall, with no significant damage apparent. The original fibre glass and fibre shade remains intact and displays scattered age-related marks, minor discolouration and surface wear consistent with its age. Vintage metal hardware shows natural patina. The lamp is shown functioning in the photographs. Please review all images carefully as they form part of the condition description.
