Orrefors Corona Crystal Vase by Lars Hellsten, Sweden, c. 1978

Designed by Lars Hellsten for Orrefors, the Corona vase transforms clear Swedish crystal into an almost architectural study of light and form.

Introduced in 1978, Hellsten's Corona series was inspired by the luminous halo surrounding the moon. Deep vertical folds travel through the heavy crystal, opening into a sculptural, flower-like rim and creating shifting reflections as the piece is viewed from different angles.

The restrained clarity of the material contrasts beautifully with the complexity of the form. Seen from above, the vase takes on an almost botanical geometry; from the side, the thick folds of crystal distort and refract the objects and light around them.

Designed by Lars Hellsten, one of the defining figures of modern Swedish glass, Corona became one of Orrefors' enduring designs.

This example retains its original Orrefors Sweden foil label and is signed and numbered to the glass Orrefors LH 4384-24, identifying the larger Corona vase.

A strong standalone sculptural object, equally suited to displaying a small arrangement or being left empty to allow the crystal itself to become the focus.

Condition
