Tamara Aladin Model 1373 Olive Glass Vase for Riihimäen Lasi, Finland, 1971

A sculptural Finnish art glass vase designed by Tamara Aladin for Riihimäen Lasi Oy, Model 1373, dating to 1971.

Executed in rich olive-green glass with clear casing, the vase has an elegantly elongated silhouette that rises from a substantial circular base into a narrow tapering neck. A pronounced horizontal ridge around the lower body creates a distinctive architectural transition between the weighted base and the sweeping upper form.

The restrained geometry and earthy olive colour are characteristic of Finnish modernist glass of the period, where material, proportion and colour take precedence over ornament. The thickness of the glass at the base creates additional depth and tonal variation, shifting from clear to golden olive depending on the angle and surrounding light.

Designed during Tamara Aladin's prolific period with Riihimäen Lasi, Model 1373 is a documented production design from 1971. The underside of this example retains the etched model number “1373,” providing an important identifying feature.

A strong standalone decorative object and an excellent example of postwar Scandinavian glass design.

Condition

Very good vintage condition with light surface wear consistent with age and use. Minor manufacturing characteristics, including small bubbles or inclusions, may be present within the glass. The etched model number remains visible to the underside. Overall, the vase presents beautifully with excellent colour and clarity.
