FAQ | Reverie House

Are all Reverie House pieces vintage?
Most of the objects we offer are vintage, with a particular focus on mid-century and late 20th-century design. From time to time, we may also offer contemporary pieces that complement the Reverie House collection. Each product listing will indicate the approximate period, maker, designer, or origin where known.
Are your pieces one of a kind?
In most cases, yes. Many of the objects in our collection are vintage, discontinued, or no longer in production. Once a piece sells, we may not be able to source another identical example.
How do you determine attribution, maker, and age?
We research each object using available labels, markings, manufacturer information, catalogues, historical references, comparable examples, and other supporting documentation. Where an attribution is confirmed, we state it clearly. Where attribution is based on available evidence but cannot be fully verified, this will be reflected in the product description.
What does vintage condition mean?
Vintage objects will naturally show signs of age and previous use. This may include light surface wear, scratches, patina, oxidation, small marks, variations in finish, or other characteristics consistent with age. We photograph and describe notable condition issues wherever possible.
Do you restore the pieces you sell?
When appropriate, certain pieces may be cleaned, repaired, rewired, refinished, or otherwise restored before being offered for sale. Our approach is generally conservative. We prefer to preserve original finishes, materials, patina, and character wherever possible. Any significant restoration or replacement components known to us will be disclosed in the product description.
Are measurements exact?
Measurements are taken by hand and are intended to be as accurate as possible. Because many vintage objects have curved, irregular, or handmade forms, slight variations may occur. If a specific measurement is critical for your space, please contact us before purchasing.
Can I request additional photos or information?
Yes. If you would like additional photographs, close-ups, measurements, condition details, or other information about a particular piece, please contact us before purchasing.

Lighting

Are your lamps tested?
Lighting is inspected and tested for operation before being listed unless otherwise stated. Some vintage lighting may retain original electrical components, while other pieces may have been rewired or fitted with replacement cords, switches, plugs, sockets, or other components. Any known electrical restoration will be noted in the listing.
Do lamps include bulbs?
Bulbs are generally not included unless specifically stated in the product description. We may recommend an appropriate bulb type or wattage for certain fixtures.

Shipping & Pickup

Where are you located?
Reverie House is based in Toronto, Ontario. Local pickup is available by appointment near Don Mills and Lawrence.
Do you offer local pickup?
Yes. Local pickup in Toronto is available free of charge by appointment. Exact pickup details will be provided once your order has been confirmed.
Do you offer delivery within the GTA?
Yes. Local delivery may be arranged throughout the Greater Toronto Area for an additional fee. Delivery pricing depends on the size of the piece, distance, location, and handling requirements.
Do you ship within Canada?
Yes. Most orders within Ontario and across Canada are shipped using Canada Post with tracking. Larger, unusually shaped, or particularly fragile objects may require an alternative courier or delivery service.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. International shipping is available by quotation. Because shipping costs, duties, taxes, and import requirements vary significantly by destination and by object, international shipping is not currently calculated automatically at checkout. Please contact us with the item you are interested in and your shipping destination.
Who is responsible for customs duties and taxes?
International customers are responsible for any applicable customs duties, VAT, taxes, brokerage fees, or other import charges assessed by the destination country unless otherwise stated.
How quickly will my order ship?
Most orders are prepared and dispatched within a few business days. Larger, fragile, or unusually shaped pieces may require additional preparation time. Tracking information will be provided once the order has been shipped.
How do you pack fragile items?
Packing methods are selected based on the individual object. Vintage glass, ceramics, lighting, and other fragile pieces may require additional cushioning, reinforced packaging, or double boxing. Our priority is to ensure each object is packed appropriately for its journey.

Orders & Policies

Can I reserve or hold an item?
Because most of our inventory is one of a kind, items are generally available on a first-purchased basis. Short holds may occasionally be considered. An item is not considered sold until payment has been received.
Do you negotiate on price?
We price our objects based on condition, rarity, provenance, design, market comparables, and sourcing and restoration costs. From time to time, we may consider reasonable offers on select pieces.
What is your return policy?
Because our inventory consists primarily of vintage and one-of-a-kind objects, return eligibility may vary depending on the item and circumstances. Please review our Returns & Refunds Policy before purchasing.
What if my order arrives damaged?
Please contact us as soon as possible if an item arrives damaged. Keep all original packaging and take clear photographs of the exterior packaging, interior packaging, shipping label, and damaged item. These materials may be required to submit a claim with the shipping carrier.
Are colours in photographs accurate?
We make every effort to represent colour, finish, and condition accurately. However, lighting conditions, photography, screen settings, and the nature of vintage materials can affect how colours appear.

Can you help me source a specific piece?
