A sculptural brass task lamp by German lighting manufacturer  Sölken-Leuchten, dating to approximately the 1970s.

The lamp is constructed around a substantial hemispherical brass base supporting a vertical standard and articulated double swing arm. Its rectangular directional reflector can be repositioned independently using the integrated adjustment handle, allowing the light to be precisely directed across a desk or work surface.

The design combines the mechanical precision of a professional task lamp with the warmth and decorative presence of brass. Its exposed articulation, restrained geometry and highly functional construction are characteristic of German modernist lighting of the period.

The lamp retains its original Sölken-Leuchten manufacturer's label to the underside of the base, marked 12V / 50W, confirming both the maker and original electrical specification.

The brass has developed a naturally aged surface throughout, with oxidation, fine scratches and patination consistent with age and use. The reflector displays more pronounced variation to its original finish, including mottling and areas where the protective surface coating has deteriorated or been disturbed over time. These surfaces have been retained rather than aggressively refinished.

A particularly expressive example of 1970s German task lighting, balancing technical function with a strong sculptural presence.

Condition
Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear throughout.

The lamp has been electrically restored for continued use, with a new North American plug and replacement inline power switch replaced on the cord. The original cord has been retained.

The brass shows visible patina, surface wear, oxidation, scratches and areas of finish stripping/loss from previous use, particularly to the shade and other handled surfaces. These signs of age have been intentionally preserved rather than polished out, in keeping with the lamp’s original vintage character.

The articulated arm and adjustable lamp head retain their intended movement. The original Sölken-Leuchten manufacturer label remains present and legible on the underside of the base.
